Root Catalyst engages schools and communities in co-creating organic gardens and public ‘Spaces Of ReConnection‘ that offer opportunities to deepen relationships with our food, bodies, communities, and the earth. We also facilitate integrative experiences that build the capacity of Emerging Climate Leaders who are working to foster more resilient futures.

Community Design Facilitation

We facilitate multi-stakeholder and intergenerational design processes that foster alignment around unified visions and amplify collective impact. We work with our partners to engage diverse groups of stakeholders in designing collaborative social impact and sustainability projects such as: urban farms and gardens, public parks, school gardens, community gathering spaces, outdoor classrooms, art installations, arts & wellness events, adaptive reuse projects, and more.

Spaces Of ReConnection: Urban Agriculture & Creative Placemaking

We design and install urban farms, gardens, and dynamic public spaces that build food sovereignty, environmental stewardship, and civic engagement. We specialize in the cultivation of spaces that grow food and medicine, inspire creativity, and nurture deeper connections between our food, bodies, local environments, and within our social movements.

School Gardening & Sustainability

We engage school-communities in the design, installation, and cultivation of school gardens, and use these dynamic living-learning environments to enhance academic learning and environmental stewardship amongst students and the communities they are a part of.

Capacity Building & Strategic Consulting

We uplift community organizations through a range of services focused on building collective capacity including: strategic planning, program and project design, community engagement, and the integration of equitable operating practices that uphold core values and build organizational capacity.

We also work with foundations and mission-driven corporate partners to more deeply understand and align with the true needs of communities they intend to serve, while deepening the long-term social and environmental impacts of their philanthropic efforts through a lens of equity and solidarity.
